TAG Sync and Neurofeedback Theory:
Theories are neither true nor false. They are simply useful or not. My theory is what I need to piece together
increasing data from diverse fields and to generate useful predictions about sickness behavior in the trajectory of
development and evolution. Your needs may be different.
I chose to use a less technical vocabulary plus icons to discuss various topics because many of them, such as global
broad band synchronization, small world networks, self-organized criticality, and cross frequency coupling can easily
be understood from common phenomena and experiences. This also helps clients understand the processes they
are learning to self-regulate.
As mentioned earlier, TAG Sync (theta-alpha-gamma synchrony) is an EEG phenomena accompanying insight,
problem solving, and the near death experience. Neurofeedback that observes and trains cross-frequency coupling of
these and other other clinical bands may be called TAG Sync neurofeedback. I have proposed a General Adaptation
Protocol (GAP) using this phenomena observed over the what I call the default mode network / fronto-parietal
network kernal (DMN/FPN Kernal)
I want a practical understanding of 1) how and why mind, brain, and consciousness appear as they do; and 2) how
can one best understand and influence sickness and wellness behavior.
I use Bejan’s constructal law of physics (CLaw) to analyze the role of global broad band synchronization (GBBS) over
small world networks (SWN) operating near self-organized criticality (SOC). This model allows me to integrate multi-
disciplinary themes into a view of adaptive evolutionary behavior versus maladaptive sickness behavior. For
convenience I refer to this model as “Global Broad Band Synchronization over Small World Networks operating near
Self-Organized Criticality in accordance with the Constructal Law of Physics. You can abbreviate it as GBBS/SWN +
SOC & CLaw (pronounced Gibbs Swan plus sock and claw).
I will explain how this view enables us to understand Ulrich’s theoretical interpretation of electroencephalography in
terms of complexity and small world networks. I will also describe the evolution of technology-assisted self-regulation
/ self-realization (TASR)
You will find many links to free full text articles on my website. I offer the first transdiagnostic EEG biomarker for
sickness behavior and chronic disease using a Kuramoto oscillator model. It offers a convenient method for analyzing
electroencephalographic findings.
Any technique you use, such as functional medicine, mindfulness meditation, live complexity training neurofeedback,
etc., that reverses the EEG signature of chronic illness (sickness behavior) increases the visible complexity in the
EEG and improves the networks ability to handle information from within and without.
Thank you for your interest, patience and feedback.
